The Rev. Kris Opat, Priest-in-Charge
The Rev. Kris Opat came to St. David’s in May 2012 and serves as the Priest-in-Charge. Kris grew up in Bethel Park and in 1992 his family became members here at St. David’s. Kris was a part of the parish and heavily involved in the youth group until his graduation in 1998. During his sophomore year at Grove City College he began volunteering with the youth group until his graduation in May 2002. Kris graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and moved back to Pittsburgh where he began to serve as a lay leader with a church plant called Three Nails. During his time with Three Nails, Kris began to discern a call to the Priesthood and started attending seminary at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. He graduated with his Masters in Divinity in May 2008 and shortly thereafter received a call to serve as Curate at St. Paul’s, Mt. Lebanon. After his curacy, Kris continued at St. Paul’s as the Associate Rector until he became the full-time Priest-in-Charge at St. David’s in January 2014. He could not be happier to serve the people of St. David’s and the surrounding community.
